why build green?
Quote, from his comments at a presentation on sustainable buildings, sponsored by the Office of Science & Technology (OST) at the Austrian Embassy on June 22, 2006:
Alan Abrams, president of Abrams Design Build and guest at the green building event, gives a less pragmatic explanation on why it is the most plausible thing to live in a green building.
“Outside of the performance and characteristics of a building, outside of the technology that has been used, outside of the market forces that are involved in the decisions, outside of the mandates and codes that might exist or might not exist and outside of the concept of return of investment and lifecycle analysis, what I discovered is that when we build green we are responding directly to nature. And the responses to such space are very profound, very sensual and very spiritual. To me that¹s sufficient reason to build green.”
